OUR GOD, DON

Don is the universe, the universe is Don. Don is nature, nature is Don -- by hurting the earth, one hurts Don herself. The founders of the religion heard the voice of Don speaking to them as strongly female, thus we choose to refer to Don with use of the pronouns “She” or “Her.” This encourages all followers to open their eyes to equality and realize that divinity need not be inherently male-centric.

Don is not as typically reflected both in past societies and religions; she doesn’t comply to these gender roles, rather our knowledge of her being charts an unprecedented path for equality. She decided to create the universe through a Big Bang and express herself that way to share happiness and promote the growth of knowledge through other beings: living creatures.

Don came down in an orb of light to the three founders: Obim Okeke, Shatheed Wilson, and Clara, who sparked the religious movement.

OUR LOCATIONS

We have our main holy structure and building in New York City, where our religion was founded. This is a communal location where Donists from all over the world meet each year to celebrate the Day of Light on May 5th. Throughout the planet, we have hundreds of holy buildings where Donism is worshiped as a foundation in each community. It is here where Donists converse and share resources and services on a daily basis. Essentially, the Donist communities live in neighborhoods surrounding such structures, providing a sense of neighborhood community and value-sharing.
